CONSTITUTION AND FUNCTIONING
The Units are constituted in Clinics belonging
to the Foundation or in outside Clinics, selected by the Institution
in each region.
All of the Units work under the same scientific criteria,
clinical protocol and standards for treatment. Each Clinic
is responsible for the organization and management of its
Unit, while the Kovacs Foundation is in charge of the control
of the scientific and medical care aspects. The Foundation
is also in charge of organizing or providing the specific
training that may be needed in each Unit, of designing research
projects or promoting public health for the Units (in those
which participate with the Institution) and of applying the
mechanisms for quality control.
The mechanisms
for quality control are the same in all the Units,
whether they are located in cooperating Clinics or those belonging
to the Foundation. These mechanisms include such aspects as
the evaluation of the application of scientific criteria,
clinical protocol and standards for treatment, the duration
of each medical act, the degree of patient satisfaction, assessed
by means of anonymous surveys, and the clinical outcomes obtained
adjusted by the characteristic of the patients treated.
