OBJECTIVES AND CHARACTERISTICS OF MEDICAL CARE IN THE FOUNDATION
The Foundation's objective is to assure the
patients that the health care they receive is that which is
recommended by available scientific knowledge at that time,
thus ensuring that the treatments prescribed are the most
modern and effective in each case, avoiding unnecessary costs,
risks, delays and side effects.
To this end, the Foundation has created the
Kovacs Back Units. These are multidisciplinary units
which specialize in back complaints, for which the full range
of all treatments of scientifically proven effectiveness are
exclusively applied and wherein which physicians of all back
related specialties work in a coordinated fashion. The medical
team is governed by the criteria defined by the Kovacs Foundation
on the basis of the results of scientific studies performed
all over the world, which ensures that each patient, after
having been thoroughly analyzed, receives the most effective
and safe treatment for each specific case.
The Units are organized in clinics belonging
to the Foundation itself, or in Clinics selected by the Institution
in each region. All Units work with the same scientific criteria,
clinical protocols, treatment guidelines and quality control
methods that the Foundation applies in its own clinics. Each
Clinic is responsible for the organization and management
of its Unit, and the Kovacs Foundation is in charge of the
scientific and care aspects.
On the other hand, the Kovacs Foundation
has agreements of free care for certain groups. This benefit
care is funded by the Foundation. It is only offered in the
Back Units located in its own clinics and is carried out in
collaboration with the institutions which represent the beneficiary
groups, such as trade unions - General Workers' Union and
Worker Commissions (CCOO),- , and old age pensioners - Federation
of Associations of Old Age Pensioners.
